Our little pumpkin...

I realize that it's December.  And I realize the photos below involve pumpkins.  But I never got around to posting these, and since I post pics for out of town family to see, I decided to throw these up here.
Our little pumpkin.  At 2 months old.  I can't believe she'll be 4 months in just 2 weeks!

Life with laughter in it....

Every night, we come home, and spend some quality time in an unusual place.

On the changing table.

It's been a place of comfort for AB since her birth.  And every time we lay her there, she seems at ease.  So, after a long hard day of playing at Miss Etta's, we catch up on our day.

I love this little girl.  She brings us so much joy.  I had to share with you her latest laugh because her laugh is infectious and a sound I will never get tired of hearing.

"Life is worth living as long as there's a laugh in it.”  - L.M. Montgomery, Anne of Green Gables

AB turns 3 months!

Dearest Annie Beth -

You are growing to be such a beautiful, sweet little girl. Your daddy and I love to spend time with you, as you talk and coo and laugh and giggle at the silly things we'll do to make you smile.  You are almost sitting up... I bet it will only be a month or 2 before you're sitting on your own!

Every night we love picking you up and taking you home to spend time with you.  We talk about our day and sing silly songs.  You normally take a nap as soon as we get home, as you're so worn out from playing all day with Miss Etta and Clara.

You always wake with a smile, so happy to see us.  You're such a great sleeper, sleeping thru the night since you were 6 weeks old!

You don't mind me constantly taking your picture.  You're really good and already know just where to look so mommy can get the best pictures of you.

You love to take baths, and you love to look at your sweet little hands.  Your nails grow so long that I could give you a french manicure right now!  We try to trim them every week.  You love it when I rub your feet.  I think a pedicure is in store for us when you're a little older!

You're starting to play with toys, like your firefly from your Aunt Andrea.  You can finally hold on to things now, with your powerful grip.

Your stare wins me over each time and I can't get enough of you.  I will forever be obsessed with your sweet face.

And as you sleep, we pray over you that the Lord will protect you and that you may know the love that we have for you.  We are so thankful for our sweet girl.

Happy 3 months sweet little AB, Annie, Annie Beth, Birdie.  You may have lots of nick names at a young age, but you are one of a kind!

Spicy Cheddar Cheese Straws

I always love when my mom shows up to see me with tins.  Tins contain good yummy things.  Things I can't resist, even when I'm on a diet.  Which is now... the worst time of the year.

Looky at what was inside!

Don't those look amazing?  I've decided since there were sunflower seeds on top, it's healthy.

And they're so yummy.  You should make them for your office. Your Christmas party.  Or to celebrate a Tuesday. It doesn't matter the occasion.  They are super yummy.

Thanks mom for such a fabulous treat.  I was nice and shared them with my office and now they're all addicted.

Your daughter that wants more tins of goodness

Here's the recipe.  Enjoy!

2 1/2 cups of shredded sharp cheddar cheese
1 1/2 cups flour
1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
1 tsp. kosher salt
1/2 tsp. dried crust red pepper flakes (makes these spicy!)
*2 TBS half and half

Pulse first 5 ingredients in a food processor at 5 second intervals until mixture resembles coarse crumbles.  Add half and half and process 10 seconds or until dough forms a ball.

Wrap dough tightly in plastic wrap and chill at least 1 hour.  This can chill up to 3 days.  Then divide into 3 pieces.  Preheat oven to 350 degrees and roll out your dough and cut into shapes.  (oh the possibilities!)

Whisk 1 egg white and 1 tsp of water to brush on top of the dough shapes and sprinkle with toasted sesame seeds, black sesame seeds and salted roasted sunflower seeds.

Bake for 8 minutes.  Enjoy.  And as my mom put on the recipe card she included with her tin of goodness, "Wrap pretty".

Yes mother.  We will.

Glory in the Heavens...

Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth!
You have set your glory in the heavens.  Psalm 8

Last night, I stood gazing at the beautiful moon.  What a glorious sight... and so bright for all to see. It baffles me thinking about what stood between me and the moon in those moments.  And yet, it appeared as nothing.

Just me and the moon.  What a glorious sight.

Follow the Sun...

Sometimes, the best photoshoots don't require open fields, cool props or fancy outfits.

All you need are willing participants, and the sun.

This weekend, at our annual Thanksmas with Stephen's family, we decided to grab a few pics outside of some pretty cute kids.  It wasn't planned.  It wasn't the perfect location.  But we made it work.

It just proved to me that you don't have to make a big fuss to have a photoshoot.  You can do one right where you are.  Even if it is in a hotel parking lot.

I even got their mom to get in a pic.  And I don't even care that there are cars in the background.  That wasn't what mattered.

The best part was pulling their grandparents in the pictures.  Best part of my day.

I love being around love at this age.

They almost seemed like teenagers being silly with one another.

And laughter so pure and sweet.

But their greatest joy is right here.  At their feet.

And that right there is love.  Family documented in a perfect place... even if it was in a parking lot.

Joy comes in the morning...

Saturday was such a beautiful day.  As you can tell, we have one happy girl on our hands.  We hung out together outside for a little bit and enjoyed the bright blue sky.  She loved it.

She already knows how to jump for joy!

"For our heart shall rejoice in Him, Because we have trusted in His holy name."  Psalm 33:21

I'm thinking we have a little cheerleader on our hands.  (As long as she's not the one that flies in the air).  I'll break that to her another time.

Happy Monday everyone!  (Don't forget to enter in the Printcopia giveaway!  Click here to enter by Tuesday night!)

Christmas Gift Guide: Finding deals online!

If you're like me... you're waking up and realizing that it's almost Christmas.  I can't believe that in only 40 days, we'll be gathered 'round with family and friends to celebrate.  Singing Christmas songs (which I'll be starting in a mere week and couldn't be more excited) and eating some of the finest foods of the year.

But what about shopping for all those family and friends?  On a budget?  With no time during the week to shop?  Well, I've put together a list of both easy and budget friendly solutions for your Christmas buying experience.  Allowing you to spend less, but still give awesome, thoughtful gifts.

Here goes.

Online deals that I love:

Join Zulily, which I can honestly say has some great deals, and really unique items for all members of your family.  If you sign up now, by providing your email, you will get a $10 credit when clicking this link.  I have done this in the past, and purchased a $20 item, and even got free shipping.  Talk about a deal!  I love their baby clothes personally.  But they have everything!  Sign up today!

Tip: Open an email account in Gmail or Yahoo just for signing up for online deals. Rather than receive daily emails to your main email account and annoy you, have them go to a separate account that you check daily when you're ready to see all your deals in one place!

Groopdealz:  Ok, this is slowly becoming an addiction for me.  Click here to sign up.  It's almost like etsy or pinterest meet online boutique shopping that's always on sale.  Lots of homemade, personalized and vintage style items.  Jewelry, personalized platters, baby items, cell phone covers, etc.  You have to like them on facebook to see their deals, or access the deals by logging into their website.  I've bought some really great, unique items from there for Christmas presents.  Very affordable, and if you order now, you'll have it in plenty of time for Christmas!  (But act fast on items as they tend to sell out quickly!)

Join Amazon Prime!  Join today for a 30 day free trial and cancel it before Christmas after you've ordered all your Christmas deals and made use of their free two day shipping!  You will get discounts on thousands of items, daily deals on toys, electronics, and really anything that would be on your shopping list.  If you're a parent, you can even sign up for Amazon Mom and get Prime benefits, plus 20% diapers and wipes and all things baby!  And free shipping!  I call that a deal!

For the hard to buy for:
Sign up for BirchboxYou've seen my many posts on the fun things that arrive in my mailbox each month from Birchbox.  Well, did you know that you can buy a 3 month subscription for a gift?  Talk about the gift that keeps on giving!  For $10 a month, various beauty items will arrive in the mail for you to sample.  Many times, my boxes include full size makeup or beauty products that are worth well over $10.  It's definitely a fun gift that anyone would LOVE to get.  (And if you know of a guy that loves men's grooming products, it's also a great gift!  Stephen LOVES his Birchbox that shows up each month!  Give the gift of a Birchbox!
Send an Olive and Cocoa gift box!  I have had the pleasure of receiving 2 Olive and Cocoa gift boxes from our sweet friends and have also sent gifts through Olive and Cocoa and I love the presentation of each gift when it arrives.  They come wrapped in a beautiful wood box, with a gorgeous satin ribbon.  I love the variety of gifts available online at many price points.  Definitely great options for loved ones that you won't be seeing in person this year!
Buy a magazine subscription!  Another gift that keeps on giving, for a very little price.  Search the web, or click here for great magazine deals.  If you sign up now, your loved one will have their first magazine show up the beginning of January.  When you give them this gift for the holiday, wrap the current issue of the magazine and tell them one will be shortly arriving in their mailbox!  Great gifts, man for under $10.
For the Creative:
Photoshop Elements 11 for a new photographer:  Know someone getting a new camera for Christmas?  They will need a photo editing software for all their new photos!  I found a great deal on Photoshop Elements 11, for only $50.  (Regularly over $100).  This is a great gift, for new or beginner photographers.  They would love this gift and not expect it.

Print off Pictures!  Get those pictures off the disc and into a book or on your wall!  I have found two websites that I love for printing off pictures.  Head to Mpix.com for all your photo printing needs or Printcopia for printing off canvases.  They are both who I recommend all my clients use for their photos, or photo projects.  They have awesome gift ideas, such as mini accordion books, large photo books, or just simple pictures printed to put in a frame.  Do you know someone who takes a lot of Instagram photos?  Print off their pictures for them and make a cute book.  It would be an inexpensive and very thoughtful gift.

*Tomorrow I will have a fun giveaway from Printcopia, so be sure to check back to enter in!

via my mom's pinterest!
Know any Pinterest Addicts?  (my mother....)  Log on to their Pinterest boards and find some fun craft ideas that they have pinned, and make one of those projects for them!  I'm sure you'll need craft supplies from Hobby Lobby or Michaels.  Don't forget your 40% off coupon found on their apps, or by clicking here(Mom, start a board that says "I'd love that" and I'll know what you want for Christmas.  Thanks!)

Buy Local!

We love to buy local when we can, and love to support small businesses in our community.  Visit your local farmers market, or flea market for great gift ideas.  You can even support small businesses in other towns where your loved one lives by searching on the internet.  You will find that small businesses are happy to ship, hand deliver, personalize and make your gifts unique and thoughtful.

Here in Shreveport, we love supporting Aidan's Place with their fabulous granola.  Check out their website and have granola shipped all over the world to your loved ones.  She even has a holiday flavor that has homemade peppermint bark in it.  Call her to order today!  (She also has darling paper boxes she makes to gift the granola in.  Darling).

I hope this has been helpful to at least one person.  I love finding deals online for gifts.  If you need help finding a gift for a loved one, let me know how I can help!

Happy shopping!
